"More" Apartments Amsterdam © Ronald Tilleman

Description

14% of office buildings in the Netherlands are empty. MVSA Architects therefore took the opportunity to transform an abandoned simple Amsterdam office building from the 1970s into a luxurious apartment complex. The radical renovation created ten first-class apartments, while carefully researched details restored the harmony of the 19th century street. The renovations make the building more friendly, flexible and elegant. Large windows and generous outdoor areas have been integrated into each apartment. The two penthouses on the upper floor, slightly set back from the front, have a roof garden each.

The special feature of this project is its sustainability: the transformation of boring old offices into beautiful new apartments is a good example of upcycling. In order to further improve the sustainability rating, only environmentally friendly materials were used and an energy-efficient heat and cold storage system was installed, which include almost 2000 m² of Clina capillary tube mats.
